Spring brought new opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors, and Elk Grove HART is proud to share the progress our community made together.
Throughout April and May, our team and supporters worked alongside individuals and families facing housing instability, helping prevent evictions, provide essential resources, and create pathways toward greater stability and independence.
April: Preventing Evictions and Supporting Our Neighbors
In April, Elk Grove HART provided direct assistance to help two households avoid eviction and remain safely housed. These interventions can make an immediate and lasting difference for families who are just one unexpected expense or setback away from losing their homes.
We also continued supporting individuals staying at Pardes. Our team provided personal assistance to clients and helped one client secure a gift letter needed to qualify for housing at Pardes Apartments —removing a barrier and helping create a path toward stable housing.
April also included serving a shelter dinner in March, giving our team another opportunity to connect with and support individuals experiencing homelessness while providing a warm meal and a sense of community.
May: Expanding Support and Creating New Beginnings
May was another busy and impactful month. We assisted two households in maintaining housing stability and successfully prevented another eviction, helping families remain in their homes and avoid the disruption and uncertainty that come with losing housing.
Our support extended beyond housing assistance. We provided bicycles, helmets, locks, clothing, and pet-deposit assistance to clients. These may seem like simple resources, but they can remove significant barriers—helping people get to work, access services, care for their pets, and move forward with greater independence.
One of the most encouraging accomplishments of the spring was helping multiple families and individuals transition into stable housing at Grace, Meadow, and Adamstown. Every successful transition represents more than a move—it represents a new beginning and an opportunity for someone to build a more secure future.
A Community That Shows Up
Our work would not be possible without the generosity and commitment of the Elk Grove community. The Big Day of Giving fundraiser in May was a tremendous success, generating nearly $29,000 to support the work of Elk Grove HART.
These funds, along with the time, donations, and encouragement of our community, allow us to continue responding when our neighbors need help most.
From preventing evictions and keeping families housed to providing transportation, clothing, pet assistance, and opportunities for permanent housing, this spring demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together.
Thank you to everyone who helps make this work possible. Every donation, volunteer hour, referral, and act of kindness contributes to a stronger, more compassionate Elk Grove.
Together, we are helping our neighbors find stability, maintain housing, and move toward a brighter future.
